General Packing Items
There are many items to consider taking with you on a Bigfoot hunt. Here is a list of some important things to remember:
General Gear
- Backpack
- Tent
- Sleeping Bag
- Compass
- Flash Light and Spare Batteries
- Matches or Lighter
- Knife of Multi-tool
- First Aid Kit
- Bug Spray
- Map of the area
Food, Water, and Cooking
Food
It is important to bring food that is going to last as well as provide a great deal of energy. Some suggestions include:
- Peanut Butter
- Tuna, ham, chicken and beef in cans
- Dried Noodles (Spaghetti, Ramen)
- Dehydrated foods
- Oatmeal
- Crackers
- Hard cheeses
- Candy bars
- Fresh fruit
- Dried fruits and nuts
- Trail mix
- Baby carrots and other veggies
- Powdered milk and Juice Boxes
- Beef jerky and other dried meats
Food items can be left at your base camp during the day, but remember to bring some snacks with you out on the trail. You'll also want to keep any food out of the reach of wildlife.
Water
Remember to bring plenty of water on your trip. When packing water, consider the number of people in the group, the amount of work you will be doing the and temperature. Empty milk or juice jugs work well for carrying water. Bringing smaller containers will work well when you're out on the trail.
Cooking
You don't need a whole lot of cooking gear but remember to bring plates and utensils for everyone in your group. Disposable dishes work fine. You'll also want a pot to boil water in and even a frying pan will come in handy.You may even want to bring a cooler with ice.
